The Line Operator-in-Training works directly under the Line Operator learning the responsibilities required for running the production line. He or she also works closely with the Plant Supervisor and Plant Manager learning how to ensure line efficiency and that all quality, safety and GMP standards are consistently upheld by the line workers during operation. The Line Operator-in-Training will work with the Line Operator to immediately bring all production line issues to the attention of the Plant Manager for resolution or escalation.
[WHAT YOULL OWN]
Works closely with Quality Assurance staff to ensure product quality
Ensures all codes on product are correct
Continually monitors fruit and packaging quality
Ensures that GMPs are followed at all times
Visually inspects all equipment for cleanliness and operation
Install all necessary equipment guards and slides
Starts all necessary equipment
Resets bag and box counters
Starts X-ray or metal detector, checks operation
Sets codes & verifies with Lab personal
Makes sure all production workers are properly placed and ready for shift
Makes sure all tools and chemicals are properly stored and locked
Ensures production line is set up and ready prior to running.
Validates incoming product before it is run
Oversees dumping, inspection and packing of product
Is in constant communication with lab to assess quality and package weights
Works with inspectors and monitors sort-outs
Constantly checks code placement and clarity
Keeps a clean and safe production facility
Validates packing before it is placed in production
Is responsible for final finished product quality
Works closely with Plant Manager to handle any problems and make any decisions regarding quality
Inventories, Labels and records unused fruit at the end of each day
Records all packaging and supplies used
Makes sure sort-out / crumbles are labeled or weighed and recorded
Instructs clean-up personal of any special or specific cleaning instructions
Puts any tools or shields back every night
Ability to help with trouble shooting equipment and help with repairs when needed
Help with preventive maintenance
One (1) to two (2) years experience in production work, or other agricultural or manufacturing experience is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with diverse populations.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred
Experience operating forklifts and other small equipment. One (1) to two (2) years experience is preferred.
General computer skills – Microsoft Excel and other Office programs and cloud-based management software.
Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more. Frequently required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, or talk or hear. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
[EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK]
Anticipated Hours: Monday Friday and Occasional Weekends
4am-2:30pm (First Shift Position)
2pm-12:30am (Second Shift Position)
